7th October 2014 - Week 1

This class was the first audio and film students had to attend. I think it was quite interesting. Dr. H, the professor for this class, had us practice an activity where we got to get to know each other a little bit better. It was enjoyable to get to know traits of some people that you would not expect them to have. Also, I felt rather nervous about the unit guide, the activities and home works we have to do seem intimidating. I wouldn't want to miss any though, the weighing is serious. I cannot risk missing a single assignment for a lazy night. The most convenient way to do this, I believe, is by avoiding procrastination and being more punctual when it comes to doing assignments.
Right after we got to know about what we'll be doing mainly for this class, I found out that the professor does not want us to just have lectures and all the usual academic exercises, she wants us to have practical activities to prepare us for our college experience. It was comforting to know and it made me look forward to the adventure that awaits my eagerness to learn more about the concept of this unit. I don't think I have been participating well enough to this class however, I still feel a bit shy around people, but from past experiences the best way to overcome this issue is to get to know people more, that way I would feel more comfortable around everybody.
I also felt really convinced that the other upcoming projects that we will be having for different units throughout the trimester would come easier through this class.
We also attended other classes about the different aspects of films. I got ideas on how films developed from the olden times to what we have now. It felt quite nice to learn basics and how everything on camera is intended. Nothing is coincidental. I learned that the most important purpose that a video has is to send out a message and even give out a moral that we all have to practice somehow. I would love to learn more about these techniques and practice them until I'm finally able to send out my own messages and tell stories to people.
So far though, my favourite part of being in SAE was the post-production class we had. Post production is the field that I want to be in and the class that we had about it was exciting. I learned how to put my creativity to use and somehow see how others use theirs. I loved interacting with the teacher and my classmates in that class which left me so excited for the next one. It was so effortless when you're finally practicing in the field you want to be in.
SAE has been good to me, even though I've only been studying for 5 days out there. I am looking forward to encountering more people and also enhancing my skills and knowledge about my chosen field.
